Wisdom Educational and Charitable Trust

Our work transforms lives by reducing illiteracy, poverty, and social injustice in Mayiladuthurai district.

Founded in 2019, Wisdom Educational and Charitable Trust focuses on holistic rural development. Our core areas include education, women empowerment, healthcare, livelihood, and disaster relief. We run skill training centers, health camps, and educational institutions to uplift underprivileged communities. We also provide scholarships, medical aid, and promote youth engagement. We partner with local and national agencies for grassroots impact. Operating from Poraiyar, we serve several villages and rural clusters across Mayiladuthurai district. The trust operates on values of inclusivity, service, and sustainability to uplift lives in the region.

Free Health Checkup Camp

Organized a mobile clinic in 5 rural villages with local doctors. Over 500 villagers benefited from health screenings and medicines. Focused on diabetes, blood pressure, and general wellness. Supported by donations and a local hospital. Awareness sessions were also held on hygiene and nutrition. The program helped reduce untreated chronic cases significantly.

Women's Skill Development Camp

Conducted a 4-week tailoring and computer training camp for over 80 rural women. Helped improve job readiness and economic independence. Partnered with local self-help groups and women leaders. Post-training, many participants started home-based businesses. The program saw over 60% employment/self-employment conversion. Follow-up support was provided for 3 months after training.

Flood Relief & Rehabilitation Drive

Provided food kits, clothing, and basic medicines to flood-affected families. Over 200 families in Poraiyar and nearby villages benefited. Volunteers from the trust coordinated door-to-door relief. Temporary shelters and essentials were provided during emergencies. The initiative was supported by public donations. Post-relief, families received help restoring homes and livelihoods.

Tuition & Remedial Classes for Students

Daily tuition classes are provided to 100+ students from rural schools. Subjects include English, Math, and Science with trained teachers. The aim is to reduce dropout rates and improve academic performance. Special attention is given to girl students and first-gen learners. Free notebooks and learning kits are distributed. The program is held in the trust’s learning center at Poraiyar.

Women Entrepreneurship Program

A long-term initiative providing entrepreneurship guidance and microfinance support. Women are trained in tailoring, baking, and handmade products. Workshops on marketing, business setup, and accounting are conducted. Support is provided for registering small businesses or SHGs. A revolving fund helps scale their micro-enterprises. More than 50 women have become economically self-reliant.
